Genesis Biotechnology Group's Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (MDL) is seeking a team-oriented Phlebotomist to draw blood, collect specimens, label vials, and prepare samples for lab submission. You will adhere to infection control standards and participate in accurate test requisition verification with nursing staff.

You will verify patient identity, perform venipuncture and fingerstick collections, transport samples, and maintain specimen integrity, all while upholding regulatory requirements

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from patients.
• Label vials with patient information.
• Decipher the best method for drawing blood.
• Transport all specimen samples to a nearby laboratory.
• Centrifuge blood samples according to state regulations.
• Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.
• Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log; reporting discrepancies.
• Obtains blood specimens by performing venipuncture and fingersticks.
• Maintains specimen integrity by aseptic technique and following procedures.
• Collects therapeutic drug-monitoring assays with nursing staff.
• Tracks collected specimens and daily tallies of collections.
• Monitors glucose levels and reports results to nurse-manager.
• Performs bleeding-times tests and reports out-of-range results to pathologist.
• Maintains quality results and logs; reports changes.
• Adheres to hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
• Updates knowledge through education and professional activities.
• Supports hospital community by upholding standards.
