Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a phlebotomist to obtain specimens from patients via venous, capillary or finger sticks. You will verify patient identification and explain the sampling process to the patient.

The phlebotomist maintains specimen integrity using aseptic techniques, processes reference laboratory specimens, completes orders accurately, and supports billing and reporting while assisting in other duties within the department.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy experience or completion of an accredited phlebotomy program.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Obtain specimens from patients via venous, capillary, or finger sticks.
• Verify patient identification prior to collection and explain sampling process.
• Maintain specimen integrity using aseptic techniques and department procedures.
• Process reference laboratory specimens and complete orders accurately.
• Bill patient accounts and process manual laboratory reports.
• Assist with other duties within the department as needed.
