Qualifications

• Phlebotomy registration or certification preferred.
• CPR certification is required or preferred.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training course.

Responsibilities

• Use sterile techniques to prevent infection.
• Identify the patient correctly per NPSG.
• Select the correct tubes for each test.
• Follow hospital policy for patients unable to draw.
• Follow blood culture procedures per infection control.
• Adhere to hospital phlebotomy protocols and procedures.
• Label specimens properly per policy and requisitions.
