Job description

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $21.75 - $29.36 hourly. Placement within the range depends on factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement is guided by the collective bargaining agreement.

Position Overview

This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week located at Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forst Hospital. Hours are 2pm to 10:30pm with every other weekend rotation. The Lead Phlebotomist reflects NM's mission, vision, and values, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the hiring, training, and evaluation for phlebotomy service personnel.
• Teaches phlebotomy procedures to less‑skilled personnel.
• Provides coaching and performance improvement plans for team members that are not meeting standards.
• Assists with communication and problem solving both intra‑ and interdepartmentally.
• Performs all the duties of a phlebotomy technician.
• Assists in providing for adequate staffing for phlebotomy services.
• Provides coverage during phlebotomy absences and vacations.
• Assists with revising and updating the phlebotomy training program.
• Assists with maintaining and writing policies and procedures relating to phlebotomy services.

Qualifications

• One year experience in a similar role
• Previous supervisory skills
• PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification
