Job summary

St. Elizabeth Physicians in Bellevue, KY is seeking a Phlebotomist/Lab Technician who provides clinical support to physicians and mid-level providers.

You will perform venipuncture as directed, ensure OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA compliance, and assist with duties vital to business operations. This regular full-time role involves handling patient care, coordinating with hospital staff, and maintaining accurate patient records.

Qualifications

• Minimum: H.S. Diploma/GED; Graduate of accredited medical assisting school or equivalent experience.
• 6 months to 1-year experience preferred.
• Phlebotomist Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Document in chart the appropriate patient history and prepare patient for exam.
• Provide patient care by giving clear direction to the patient and addressing concerns.
• Ensure completion of forms vital to revenue cycle (orders, waivers, encounter forms).
• Provide instructions to patient under provider direction.
• Ensure complete and accurate information in patient chart.
• Maintain supplies in exam rooms and workstation.
• Clean and disinfect exam rooms.
• Perform sterilization of equipment and report malfunctions.
• OSHA, CLIA and HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with patient requests and appointment scheduling.
• Timely filing and distribution of patient information.

Job Summary

Reports to the Operations Manager and/or Clinical Coordinator, Front Office Coordinator, the Phlebotomist/Lab Technician provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers. The Phlebotomist/Lab Technician provides the venipuncture service to patients as directed by the providers. The Phlebotomist/Lab Technician is also responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA regulations and ensuring completion of all duties vital to business operations.

Education

Duties And Responsibilities

• Document in chart the appropriate patient history and prepare patient for exam.
• Provide patient care by giving clear direction to the patient, address patient concerns about the exam. Document appropriately in-patient chart.
• Ensure completion of all forms vital to the revenue cycle (i.e. verification/clarification of orders, waivers for non- covered services, encounter form)
• Provide instructions to patient under direction of the provider(s).
• Ensure complete and accurate information in patient chart.
• Maintain adequate level of supplies in exam rooms and workstation.
• Clean and disinfect exam rooms.
• Perform cleaning, maintenance, and\/or sterilization of equipment and instruments. Report malfunction of equipment to appropriate supervisor.
• OSHA, CLIA and HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with completion of patient requests.
• Completion of referral process\/outpatient test scheduling, and precertification.
• Timely and accurate filing\/distribution of all patient information and oncoming mail.
• Interact with laboratory and\/or Central Billing Office as needed to resolve patient issues.
• Prepare equipment to efficiently collect blood products.
• Perform venipuncture, arterial and capillary punctures on patients.
• Identify and properly label each specimen.
• Properly identify and complete lab requisition forms in accordance with provider's order, lab requirements, and insurance requirements
• Inventories supplies and maintains adequate supplies in work area.
• Provide back-up support for Medical Assistant by assistant with standard rooming process and handling clinical phone call duties.
• Other duties as assigned.
