Broadlawns Medical Center is seeking a phlebotomist to join the Lab team in Des Moines, IA. The role ensures safe and accurate blood collections with proper patient identification and specimen labeling in a fast-paced setting.

The position includes training new employees and phlebotomy students, with a focus on service excellence and teamwork. Hours are 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in phlebotomy training or successful completion of on-the-job training or one year acceptable work as phlebotomist in a CLIA regulated, accredited lab.

Responsibilities

• The phlebotomist position will perfonn blood collections in a safe, accurate, and professional manner in high paced work areas.
• Greet and identify all patients in a courteous and confidential manner.
• Perform end of shift duties including, but not limited to, resolving collection pending list, sanitizing work area, and restocking collection trays.
• Demonstrate behaviors of service excellence consistent with hospital-wide and department specific standards.
• Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and respect to internal and external customers alike.

Demonstrate a competency of phlebotomy skills and techniques including venipuncture, heel sticks, blood cultures, pediatric specimens, m1d special collections such as those for blood banking on an annual basis.2.
