Job summary

PIH Health Hospital is seeking an Inpatient Phlebotomist to perform blood draws, accessioning, and processing of specimens for patients across all ages. The role requires accurate labeling and safe handling of samples in a hospital setting.

Applicants must hold California CPT certification, BLS CPR, and maintain CEUs; experience in acute care or ambulatory phlebotomy is required, with the ability to work with patients in isolation or with lines.

Qualifications

• California State CPT certification required.
• Experience obtaining blood samples by venipuncture and capillary puncture from adults, children, infants and neonates.
• 1 year in acute care hospital or 5 years ambulatory phlebotomy experience required.
• Experience drawing patients with special needs (lines, IVs, isolation, etc.).
• Maintain 3 CEU per year per CA State requirements.
• Valid BLS CPR certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Maintain N95 fitting or alternative.

The Inpatient Phlebotomist performs blood drawing (venipuncture and capillary punctures), accessioning and processing specimens.

Required Skills

• With consideration to age, ability to assess and utilize appropriate phlebotomy techniques, including venipuncture and capillary puncture, on patients of all age groups, from infancy through adult.
• Written and verbal communication and basic computer skills.

Required Experience

• California State CPT certification required
• Experience in obtaining blood samples by venipuncture and capillary puncture from adults, children, infants and neonates.
• One (1) year experience in an acute care hospital or five (5) years of ambulatory phlebotomy experience required.
• Experience in drawing patients with special needs, including and not limit to, with lines, on IVs, in isolation, or have various precautionary requirements.
• Maintain 3 CEU per year according to CA State requirements.
• Valid BLS CPRcertification from the American Heart Association is required.
• Maintain N95 fitting or alternative.
