Job summary

Laredo Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Phlebotomist to join the MEDVAMC team in Houston, TX. You will perform routine and complex blood collection for inpatients and outpatients in a demanding hospital setting.

Required is a High School Diploma; phlebotomy experience and attention to sterile technique are essential. Competitive hourly pay and full benefits are offered, with a strong focus on patient care and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• Experience in a hospital setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients with independence to handle 40–80 patients per day.
• Assembles equipment and prepares the work area for blood collection.
• Verifies patient identity using two identifiers prior to drawing blood.
• Draws blood and blood cultures using venipuncture techniques and appropriate tubes.
• Labels specimens in presence of patient and transports to the laboratory.
• Ensures the collected blood volume meets test requirements and maintains accuracy.
