Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience in hospital or high-volume lab.
• 2–4 years healthcare/phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Proficiency in venipuncture with straight and butterfly needles.
• Experience handling lab specimens and basic computer skills.
• Strong communication and patient care abilities.
• Phlebotomy certification if required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
• Collect, label, process, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens per procedures.
• Verify patient information and match specimens to requisitions.
• Explain specimen collection procedures to patients professionally.
• Maintain specimen integrity through proper handling and transport.
• Update patient information and document collection accurately.
• Perform equipment maintenance and decontamination as needed.
• Ensure OSHA/DEP/lab safety compliance.
• Answer lab-related inquiries by phone.
• Participate in departmental training and quality standards.
