Job summary

Talentify is seeking a Phlebotomist II for our Glenn Dale, MD location. The role involves performing blood draws, labeling and processing specimens, and ensuring accuracy with test orders and transport packaging.

The candidate should have HS/GED, be comfortable working in a team or alone, and ideally bilingual (English/Spanish). Experience with glucose testing and patient registration is preferred. OSHA/DEP compliance is expected.

Qualifications

• HS/GED required and phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing duties, troubleshoot, train others, and improve workflow.
• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge, maintain data, and decontaminate.
• Collect and store specimens per procedure, explain venipuncture to patients.
• Label, centrifuge, package specimens for transport; ensure correct requisitions.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; answer inquiries.

Job description

Our Client, a Clinical Laboratory company, is looking for a Phlebotomist II for their Glenn Dale, MD location.

Responsibilities:

• The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.
• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.
• Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Requirements:

• Candidate working at PSC Monday through Thursday will need to have skills in drawing pediatric to geriatric age groups, also performing patient registration and specimen processing.
• Candidate working at IOP Friday will be working alone at the site, drawing 10-15 patients daily. Should be skilled in glucose testing and handling patient registration and specimen processing.
• Preferred Candidate- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
