Mass General Brigham is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to collect and process blood specimens for laboratory testing. You will obtain quality samples, ensure patient safety and privacy, and support training for new staff.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
  • Driver's license preferred.
  • 1-2 years phlebotomy experience required.
  • Proficiency in proper collection methods and processing of specimens.
  • Strong communication, time management and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain quality blood samples using phlebotomy methods for all age groups.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification, labeling, processing and transport of specimens.
  • Assist in recovery of patients during adverse events in inpatient settings.
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure satisfaction and address concerns.
  • Troubleshoot specimen, order and operational issues within the area.
  • Provide training and education to new staff and students.
  • Handle sharps and biohazardous materials per regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with HIPAA and work with computer systems.
  • Perform other tests, administration and specimen collection as assigned.

Operates with a moderate level of supervision, identifying and resolving common issues independently. Provide effective training and education to new employees and students as assigned.
