Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Phlebotomist II for on-call coverage with a pay range of $23.20 - $24.90 per hour. The role includes collecting specimens (drug screens, biometric screenings), data entry, and order verification using lab systems.

Candidates should have at least three years of phlebotomy experience and reliable transportation, with on-call availability. On-call employees are eligible for a 401(k) pre-tax and/or Roth IRA with company match after 12

Qualifications

• Three years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens per established procedures (drug screens, biometric screening, insurance exams).
• Administer oral solutions according to established training.
• Research test/client information and confirm/verify orders using lab technology systems, client contact, and approved tools.
• Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
• Obtain identification and enter billing information and collect payments when required per policy.
• Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and transport prep.
• Perform non-patient facing duties (inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, phones, emails).
• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
• Maintain phlebotomy logs in a timely manner (e.g., maintenance logs, temperature logs).
• Complete online and in-person training courses timely.

Phlebotomist II - Alexandria, VA, On-Call

Pay range: $23.20 - $24.90 / hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities:

• Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
• Administer oral solutions according to established training.
• Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.
• Ability to navigate a computer and accurately enter data is a requirement to be successful in this role.

• Processing specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
• Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
• Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
• Complete online and in person training courses timely.
