Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a phlebotomist to collect venous and capillary specimens across inpatient and outpatient settings, perform bedside testing, and handle LIS duties. The role includes guiding students and staff, and performing related laboratory tasks as requested by the Manager.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with phlebotomy placement, or enrollment in relevant programs with rotation completed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 6 months phlebotomy experience, or enrollment in a Medical Lab Technician/Technologist program or certified phlebotomy program with rotation completed.

Responsibilities

  • Collect venous and capillary specimens following SOPs and aseptic technique in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Perform bedside testing.
  • Perform LIS functions.
  • Provide instruction to students/personnel.
  • Perform laboratory-related duties as requested by the Manager.

Collect venous and capillary specimens using Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and aseptic technique in multiple inpatient and outpatient settings; Perform bedside testing; Perform Laboratory Information System (LIS) functions; Provide instruction to students/personnel; Perform laboratory related duties as requested by the Manager.

Minimum Training and Education

High school diploma or equivalent(GED) and 6 months phlebotomy experience; or have been enrolled in a Medical Lab Technician/Technologist program, Clinical Laboratory Science program, or certified Phlebotomy program and have completed the phlebotomy clinical rotation.

Credentials

Completed Accredited Phlebotomy Certificate Course.
