Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc. in Trumbull, CT seeks a Phlebotomist I to collect specimens and support clinical testing from Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM with rotational weekends. Competitive hourly pay and benefits with potential annual bonus are included.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, data entry, and complying with policies. Requires high school diploma; phlebotomy certification preferred. Customer service experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures (drug screens, biometric screenings, insurance exams).
• Administer oral solutions per training.
• Verify orders using lab systems and client contact. Enter data accurately.
• Navigate computer systems and enter data accurately to support testing workflow.
• Obtain and enter billing information and collect payments per policies.
• Process specimens: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, transport as required.
• Perform non-patient facing duties: inventory, stock, sanitize, file, answer phones, email.
• Read and comply with departmental policies and procedures.
• Assist with statistics/data submissions.
• Maintain phlebotomy logs and training completions.
• Complete online and in-person training timely.

Phlebotomist I - Trumbull, CT, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with rotational weekends

Pay range: $22.80 - $24.45 / hour

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
• Administer oral solutions according to established training.
• Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.
• Ability to navigate a computer and accurately enter data is a requirement to be successful in this role.
• Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
• Processing specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
• Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
• Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
• Complete online and in person training courses timely.

Qualifications

Required Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.

The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
