Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Torrington, CT is seeking a Phlebotomist I to join a patient-focused team. Schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with rotating Saturday mornings. You will collect specimens, prepare samples, and support patient care with accurate data entry and strong service skills.

Responsibilities include processing specimens, billing liaison, and maintaining logs per procedures. Must communicate clearly in English and complete required training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in CA, NV, and WA.
• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens per procedures (drug screens, biometric screenings, etc.).
• Administer oral solutions per training.
• Verify test orders using lab systems and client contact.
• Enter data accurately on computer.
• Enter billing information and collect payments when required.
• Process specimens: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing.
• Perform non-patient duties: inventory, cleaning, phones, emails.
• Follow departmental policies and logs.
• Assist with statistics and data submissions.
• Maintain phlebotomy logs and temperature records.
• Complete training courses timely.

Phlebotomist I - Torrington, CT, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with rotational Saturday 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Pay range: $21.60 - $23.15 / hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.


• Administer oral solutions according to established training.


• Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.


• Ability to navigate a computer and accurately enter data is a requirement to be successful in this role.


• Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.


• Processing specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.


• Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.


• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.


• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.


• Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.


• Complete online and in person training courses timely.

Qualifications

Required Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.


• Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.


• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.


• Keyboard/data entry experience.

The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
