Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Huntington Station offers a Phlebotomist I role with Schedule A: 7:00 AM–2:00 PM and Saturday rotation or Schedule B: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM. The position pays $24.00–$24.50 per hour and includes eligibility for bonus based on performance.

The role focuses on specimen collection, data entry, and patient service, requiring a high school diploma, with phlebotomy certification preferred and one year of phlebotomy experience preferred. English communication is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred (required in CA, NV, WA).

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures.
• Administer oral solutions according to training.
• Research test/client information and verify orders using lab systems.
• Navigate a computer and enter data accurately.
• Enter billing information and collect payments when required, following policies.
• Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, and preparing for transport.
• Perform non-patient facing duties such as inventory, stocking, sanitizing, and filing.
• Read, understand, and comply with policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with statistics and data submission when required.
• Maintain phlebotomy logs such as maintenance and temperature logs.
• Complete online and in-person training timely.

Phlebotomist I - Huntington, NY, Monday to Friday, Schedule A: 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with rotational Saturday 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM; Schedule B: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Pay range: $24.00 - $24.50 / hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

Job Accountabilities (Responsibilities)

• Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
• Administer oral solutions according to established training.
• Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.
• Ability to navigate a computer and accurately enter data is a requirement to be successful in this role.
• Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
• Processing specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
• Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
• Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
• Complete online and in person training courses timely.

Qualifications

Required Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.

The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
