Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc. in Arlington, MA, is seeking a Phlebotomist I to join our clinical team. The role operates Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with rotational weekends, and offers a pay range of $22.80 to $24.45 per hour.

Successful candidates may be eligible for annual bonus compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. The position requires phlebotomy experience or training, strong data entry and computer skills, and effective English communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred (California, Nevada, and Washington).

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens and biometric screenings.
• Administer oral solutions as trained.
• Research test/client information and verify orders using lab systems and client contact.
• Navigate a computer and enter data accurately.
• Obtain identification and enter billing information and collect payments per policies.
• Process specimens: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparation for transport.
• Perform non-patient facing duties: inventory, stock, sanitizing, filing, phones, email.
• Comply with departmental policies and procedures.
• Assist with statistics and data submission when required.
• Maintain phlebotomy logs and maintenance logs.
• Complete online and in-person training timely.

Responsibilities:

Job Accountabilities (Responsibilities)

• Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
• Administer oral solutions according to established training.
• Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.
• Ability to navigate a computer and accurately enter data is a requirement to be successful in this role.
• Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
• Processing specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
• Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
• Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
• Complete online and in person training courses timely.

Qualifications:

Required Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.

The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
