Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Phlebotomist III for the Lenexa, KS area who will travel within an assigned territory, including Lenexa, Kansas City, and Independence, to provide professional phlebotomy services at Patient Service Centers, client offices, and other sites.

You will ensure accurate specimen collection, proper patient identification, and adherence to testing protocols while delivering a compassionate patient experience, with strong communication across sites and teams.

Qualifications

  • Three years phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens and biometric screening.
  • Administer oral solutions according to established training.
  • Research test/client information and verify orders using lab technology systems, client contact, and approved tools.
  • Navigate computer and accurately enter data.
  • Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
  • Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
  • Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
  • Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.
  • Complete online and in person training courses timely.

Phlebotomist III – Lenexa, KS

We are seeking experienced phlebotomists to join our Lenexa, Kansas team and provide high-quality patient care throughout an assigned territory, including Lenexa, Kansas City, and Independence.

Schedule & Requirements
  • Monday–Friday schedule with flexibility within a 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM window (generally 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM)
  • Rotational Saturday coverage approximately every 4th–5th Saturday
  • Territory-based position with travel between assigned locations
  • Experience working with pediatric and geriatric patients is preferred
  • Must be comfortable traveling between Patient Service Centers (PSCs), In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP) locations, and other assigned sites
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel throughout the assigned territory are required
About the Role

Travel within an assigned territory to deliver professional phlebotomy services at assigned Patient Service Centers (PSCs), Client Offices (IOPs), and other sites. Ensure accurate specimen collection, patient identification, and adherence to testing protocols to support high-quality laboratory results.

The Phlebotomist III works independently, maintains a consistently low error rate, and is comfortable handling more complex collections and patient or client situations. Strong communication skills and a commitment to providing a professional, efficient, and compassionate patient experience are essential.

Pay range: $21.50+ per hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.
