Qualifications

• Previous phlebotomy experience in a high-volume setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Electrocardiogram and Holter monitor.
• Ability to read and interpret orders to draw correct tests.
• Good color vision and manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

• Draw blood using correct methods and ensure proper labeling and handling of specimens.
• Review orders to verify tests requested before drawing.
• Maintain courteous, professional interactions with clients and staff.
• Perform Electrocardiograms (EKGs).
• Set up and instruct patients on Holter monitors and remove equipment.
• Follow departmental universal precautions and hazardous waste guidelines.
• Deliver all drawn specimens to the Laboratory.
• Assist in Laboratory duties (Urinalysis, Sed Rates, Screens, send-outs) as needed.
• Schedule lab work ordered by physicians and collect patient birth dates.
• Attendance is an essential component of the job.
