Job summary

Baptist Health in Kentucky is seeking a phlebotomist to obtain specimens via venous, capillary or finger sticks, verify patient identification, and explain the sampling process.

The phlebotomist will maintain specimen integrity using aseptic techniques, process reference laboratory specimens, complete orders accurately, and assist with department duties as needed. A high school diploma is required; phlebotomy training or experience is preferred, with Basic Life Support required within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy experience or completion of an accredited program preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

The phlebotomist verifies patient identification and explains sampling process to the patient. The phlebotomist verifies patient identification prior to collection. Additionally, the phlebotomist maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic techniques, following department or special procedures.
