Job summary

Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and specimen collection for inpatients and outpatients. You will organize specimen collection requests, transport and process samples, and assist with point-of-care testing in a multidisciplinary team.

• Phlebotomy skills and patient interaction required.
• ASCP certification preferred for PBT track.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood and other specimens following approved procedures.
• Identify patients prior to collection and explain procedures.
• Complete test orders and data entry as required by procedures.
• Label, transport, and store specimens accurately.
• Communicate professionally with internal and external customers.
• Interpret test orders to determine collection timing and specimen types.
• Perform point-of-care testing per established standards.
