Job summary

Zaddy Solutions is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract-to-hire role in Mission Viejo, CA. The position requires travel between area locations, with mileage reimbursement provided and shifts roughly 6 AM to 6 PM, Monday–Friday, potential Saturday coverage. This is a 3-month contract with possibility of extension to hire.

Requires CA State Phlebotomy License and 2+ years of experience. Mileage expenses are paid; valid driving record and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• Valid CA Phlebotomy license required.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED; 2-4 years of experience in related field (as applicable).

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws and labeling specimens.
• Centrifuging specimens and recording maintenance data.
• Decontamination and updating patient information per procedure.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and proper labeling.
• Package and transport specimens following required protocols.
• Comply with OSHA regulations and attend annual trainings.
• Answer telephone inquiries and read lab results as needed.

Location: Mission Viejo CA and area

Schedule: 6 Am to 6 PM Mon -Fri might be asked to cover a Saturday shift. Shifts are only 8 hours but depending on location they are covering may need to start as early as 6 AM or end at 6 PM

Summary:

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities:

Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport. Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED 2-4 years of experience
