Job summary

The Software Placement Group is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role in Fairbanks, AK. It is full-time and on-site with the potential to convert to permanent placement after the contract term.

You will perform blood draws, label specimens, and ensure proper handling and transport. Requirements include a valid phlebotomy certification, 6 months’ venipuncture experience, and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states.
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
  • Explain the venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection process clearly and courteously to patients
  • Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
  • Fully understand and follow all physicians' orders
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
  • Package specimens for transport
  • Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, label accurately, and follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend annual department trainings
  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to respond to inquiries

Overview

A healthcare services organization is seeking a Phlebotomist to join its laboratory team on a contract basis, with potential for permanent placement. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing that supports patient care and diagnostic testing.
