Job description

Overview

This role is responsible for executing the plasmapheresis process by performing venipunctures.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations (e.g. FDA approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP).
• Uphold donor confidentiality in alignment with company values and SOPs.
• Review and confirm donor identification and employ techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and product quality.
• Set up and prepare equipment and supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis.
• Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, manage adverse donor events, perform quality checks, and document exceptions.
• Disconnect donors and handle the disposal of biohazardous waste and contaminated equipment, including cleaning spills and following safety protocols.
• Perform calibration/maintenance of automated plasmapheresis machines and remove and/or replace equipment from service, if needed.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of necessary records.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, stock adequate supplies, and perform inventory tasks such as First In, First Out.
• Report all unsafe situations and conditions to management.
• Mentor and train team members as a Designated Trainer, driving training efficiencies; upon completion of training, support QA-Backup or NexSys Technician duties as required.
• Partner with Quality Assurance on overall donor floor performance including favorable performance observations, CAPA implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee the flow of donors, responsible for organizing lunch schedules, breaks, and overall schedule adherence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, or equivalent (GED).
• Three (3) months’ experience in a medical or health care environment or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Completed documentation of training appropriate for duties, prior to performing duties independently.
• Any specific certification or licensing based on State requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
• Ability to use all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
• Exposure to blood borne pathogens.
• Ability to view video display terminal less than 18 inches away from face for extended periods.
• Ability to work in an environment with temperatures as low as -40C or colder for extended periods.
• Occasional exposure to and handling of dry ice.
• Ability to perform precise tasks that require repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests.
• Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
• Ability to work daytime and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis.
• Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to focus and concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators (if applicable).
• Ability to travel up to 20% via airplane and vehicle (if applicable).

Compensation and Benefits

Pay: The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $24.75-$33.00-$41.25. This wage range reflects what Octapharma Plasma expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base pay for a successful candidate within this range is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
