Octapharma Plasma, Inc. is seeking a plasma collection Technician to execute plasmapheresis and perform venipunctures. You will ensure donor safety, maintain product quality, and follow all SOPs in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure full regulatory compliance (FDA SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP).
• Deliver high-quality donor service and maintain donor confidentiality.
• Review donor identification, monitor conditions, ensure donor comfort and product quality.
• Set up equipment for venipuncture and plasmapheresis; label units accurately.
• Operate plasmapheresis machines, troubleshoot alarms, manage events.
• Dispose of biohazard waste and clean equipment; maintain spills safety.
• Perform regular calibration/maintenance of machines; remove/replace equipment as needed.
• Maintain thorough records, logs, and inventory; adhere to FIFO.
• Report unsafe conditions to management and mentor teammates as needed.
• Collaborate with QA on donor floor performance and CAPA implementations.
• Oversee donor flow, schedule breaks, and keep operations on track.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This Is What You’ll Do

• Ensure total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations (e.g. FDA approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP) to maintain the highest production standards and ensure facility compliance.
• Deliver high-quality customer service, maintain a positive donor experience, and uphold donor confidentiality in alignment with company values and SOPs.
• Review and confirm donor identification, monitor donor conditions, and employ techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and product quality.
• Set up and prepare equipment and supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis; execute procedures and collection, maintain proper collection ratios, and accurately label units and samples.
• Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, troubleshoot alarms/alerts, manage adverse donor events, perform QCs, and document exceptions.
• Disconnect donors and handle the disposal of biohazardous waste and contaminated equipment, including cleaning spills and following safety protocols.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly calibration/maintenance of automated plasmapheresis machines and remove and/or replace equipment from service, if needed.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of necessary records, including Plasmapheresis Machine Logs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, stock adequate supplies, and perform inventory tasks such as First In, First Out
• Report all unsafe situations and conditions to management.
• Mentor and train team members as a Designated Trainer, driving training efficiencies; upon completion of training, support QA-Backup or NexSys Technician duties as required.
• Partners with Quality Assurance on overall donor floor performance including favorable performance observations, CAPA implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee the flow of donors, responsible for organizing lunch schedules, breaks, and overall schedule adherence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma, or equivalent (GED).
• Three (3) months’ experience in a medical or health care environment or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Completed documentation of training appropriate for duties, prior to performing duties independently.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

• Ability to use all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
• Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
• Ability to view video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods.
• Ability to work in an environment with a temperature of -40C or colder for extended periods.
• Occasional exposure to and handling of dry ice.Ability to perform precise tasks that require repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests.
• Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
• Ability to work daytime and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis required.
• Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to focus and concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators (if applicable).
• Ability to travel up to 20% via airplane and vehicle (if applicable).
