• Responds to test orders inquiries and assists with clerical duties and inventory.

Job Title: Phlebotomist

Location: Boston, MA 02116

Duration: 5+ Months (Possible Contract to Hire)

Shift: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Mon-Fri)

Job Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens for laboratory testing utilizing venipuncture, skin puncture finger sticks and heel sticks.
• Collects non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum and throat swab/throat cultures.
• Initials, dates, and times all collections and maintains daily tallies of collections performed.
• Accessions and processes specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing.
• Records requests for blood collections and answers general questions concerning test orders and collection.
• May perform waived or moderately complex testing utilizing a test kit or lab instrument.
• May administer EKG testing and Holter Monitors, including patient instructions and quality control testing.
• Contributes to general laboratory functions and organizational needs.
• Keeps work area neat and clean and restocks daily supplies.
• Performs various computer functions related to processing of specimens.
• Performs clerical duties including recording daily specimen volumes and maintaining supplies.
• May assist in training student interns and new employees.
• Adheres to all laboratory policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit required, or non-U.S. High School diploma deemed equivalent after evaluation.
• Professional certification required.
