Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a Phlebotomist for day shifts in a Full Time role. The incumbent will perform venous and capillary collections, ensure specimen integrity, and support clerical tasks and front office duties.

Training of students and staff, and adherence to infection control policies are essential. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months of phlebotomy experience or formal training; 1 year experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience or formal training is required.
• Preferred 1 year phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Collects venous and capillary blood specimens with proper technique and labeling.
• Ensures specimen integrity and proper handling per guidelines.
• Performs clerical duties and supports front office operations as assigned.
• Trains students and employees and completes required competencies.
• Maintains inventory and stocks lab supplies.
• Adheres to infection control procedures to ensure a safe environment.

Job Type: Full Time

Up to $10,000 SOB for qualified candidates, paid over 24 months.

The Phlebotomist is responsible for the collections of blood specimens ensuring patient safety and consistency with age-specific considerations for all patients, neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, as well as employees. Performs clerical functions, processing duties, and training of students and employees. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned. Performs venous and capillary phlebotomy and ensures specimen integrity; maintains specimen integrity and follows proper labeling protocols; processes specimens; performs clerical functions; assists in stocking and maintaining laboratory supply inventory.

Specimens are collected using the proper technique and following all specimen handling guidelines, assuring specimen integrity.

Assists and performs front office duties as assigned.

Displays the ability to communicate to other team members any necessary information concerning patient or lab related issues.

Consistently follows Infection Control procedures to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

Required: 6 months' phlebotomy experience or formal training.

Preferred: 1 year experience.
