Phlebotomist – Pool PositionWork Schedule - Pool Position | All ShiftsJob SummaryThe Pool Phlebotomist performs phlebotomy and other protocol-required specimen collection activities in support of Phase I clinical research studies. This role is responsible for accurate specimen collection, documentation, and participant care while ensuring study procedures are performed in accordance with study protocols, regulatory requirements, Spaulding Clinical Research Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), scope of practice, and current training and delegation.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform venipuncture, capillary collection, and IV specimen collection according to study protocols while maintaining appropriate aseptic technique.Accurately collect, identify, and manage blood and other biological specimens in accordance with study requirements.Maintain accurate and timely documentation of specimen collection and other protocol-required activities.Review applicable study protocols and Study-Specific Training (SST) and complete required training and delegation documentation prior to performing study procedures.Support participant safety, comfort, and care throughout study participation.Follow applicable SOPs, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH guidelines, HIPAA, OSHA, Exposure Control requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.Assist with additional clinical or study-related tasks as trained, delegated, and supervised by Charge Staff or other authorized personnel.Participate in quality assurance activities and support continuous compliance with study and clinical requirements.Maintain flexibility to support varying shifts and study needs.Perform other duties as assigned.The statements above describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities or duties.Education & ExperiencePhlebotomy certification required; orCurrently employed as a phlebotomist with a minimum of one year of professional phlebotomy experience.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.Professional demeanor and commitment to participant safety and quality.Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond appropriately to changing study needs.Ability to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and additional hours as required.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
