Job summary

Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD is seeking a full-time phlebotomist for day shift. You will perform specimen collection and phlebotomy for inpatients and outpatients, operate Cobas storage systems, and ensure accurate data entry and processing.

You will mentor peers and support lab initiatives while delivering compassionate patient care. The role requires at least two years of phlebotomy experience, a high school diploma or GED, and ASCP-PBT or equivalent certification.

Full Time/Day Shift/5:15am-1:45pm/ every other weekend rotations and holiday rotations/Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, MD

General Summary

• Performs various specimen collection and phlebotomy techniques in the collection of specimens for inpatients and/or outpatients. May perform laboratory tests/waived laboratory tests including but not limited to Ocult and Gastric Blood tests, Urine pH and Urine Volume.
• May operate and maintain automated pre-analytical instrumentation or Cobas automated storage and retrieval system.
• May perform data entry, processing of specimens; billing functions, and all patient registration and preanalytic setups. Ensures accuracy of all data entry and processed specimens.
• Serves as a mentor, and work in support of associated department initiatives, projects, and training.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service and safe & compassionate patient care at all times.
• blood drawing, receiving and processing of Laboratory & Referral specimens for testing. May perform other related activities to the operation of the Laboratory.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years relevant clinical phlebotomy experience in a Laboratory setting is required
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
• ASCP-PBT, or equivalent from a department approved certifying agency

Salary Range: Minimum 18.50/hour - Maximum 30.53/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
