Job summary

Ardent Health Services in Topeka, KS seeks a part-time phlebotomist to join our laboratory team. Responsibilities include specimen collection via venipuncture and capillary draws, following collection instructions and ensuring specimen integrity.

Minimum requirements: High School diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals, and national certification.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals.
  • Certification from nationally recognized agency (CPT, PBT, RPT, NCPT, ACA).
  • Experience working in a clinical setting and LIS familiarity.

Responsibilities

  • The Phlebotomist performs venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction, and specimen culture collection.
  • Ensures specimen integrity and proper labeling per protocol.

Responsibilities

The Phlebotomist functions as a laboratory professional who performs specimen collection techniques or specimen collection instructions that include; venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction, and specimen culture collection instruction.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience.
  • Certification from nationally recognized agency. Accepted agencies and certifications include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • National Healthcareer Association – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (NHA).
    • American Society for Clinical Pathology – Phlebotomy Technician: PBT (ASCP).
    • American Medical Technologists – Registered Phlebotomy Technician: RPT (AMT).
    • National Center for Competency Testing – National Certified Phlebotomy Technician: NCPT (NCCT).
    • American Certification Agency – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (ACA).
  • Hospital Lab information system skills and strong customer service skills.
  • Experience working in the clinical setting.
Preferred Job Requirements
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Phlebotomist.
