Job summary

LewisGale Hospital Pulaski is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture, collect timed specimens, process samples, and enter orders into the LIS system. The role includes handling outpatient specimens and basic EKGs for outpatients.

Qualification requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, preferred Phlebotomy certification, and BLS within 90 days of hire. On-site position with comprehensive benefits is offered.

Responsibilities

• Collects appropriate blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary puncture using proper technique.
• Collects timed blood specimens and prioritizes workload to avoid delays.
• Delivers blood specimens to the appropriate work sections and centrifuges specimens as needed.
• Enters outpatient orders into the LIS system and collects specimens.
• Retrieve specimens from drop box, receive them, answer phones, review outpatient requisitions, fax reports, file, stock.
• Performs EKGs on outpatients and submits printouts to the Respiratory department.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:

• Collects appropriate blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary puncture using proper technique. Receives other specimens.
• Collects timed blood specimens. Keeps blood collection workload on track to avoid delays. Prioritizes specimen collections appropriately.
• Delivers blood specimens to work sections timely. Centrifuges specimens as appropriate.
• Enters outpatient orders into the LIS system and collects specimens.
• Retrieve specimens from drop box and receive them, answer phone, review of outpatient requisitions, faxing reports, filing, stocking.
• Perform EKG’s on outpatients and submit printouts to the Respiratory depart.
