Job summary

Preferred Primary Care Physicians is recruiting a full-time Phlebotomist at the St. Clair Hospital Professional Center. The candidate MUST have at least 6 months of clinical phlebotomy experience and be comfortable with all tasks in a fast-paced office.

You will work with computers, maintain specimen integrity, and multi-task in a busy setting. PPCP offers a competitive starting hourly rate with benefits: medical, dental, vision, PTO, holiday pay, bonus potential, and a 401k plan.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 6 months of clinical phlebotomy experience.
• Comfortable with all aspects of phlebotomy in a busy practice.
• Experience in medical office settings preferred but not required for new graduates.

Responsibilities

• Verifies test requisitions by comparing with nursing station log.
• Verifies patient identity.
• Obtains blood specimens via venipuncture and fingersticks.
• Maintains specimen integrity using aseptic technique.
• Tracks specimens and records collection times.
• Performs bleeding-time tests and notifies pathologist of out-of-range results.
• Maintains quality results and adherence to procedures.
• Ensures a safe, compliant work environment.

Preferred Primary Care Physicians is currently recruiting for a full- time Phlebotomist at a busy PPCP Office located in the St. Clair Hospital Professional Center. The successful candidate MUST have at least 6 months experience as a clinical Phlebotomist. The candidate must be comfortable working with all aspects of a Phlebotomy position, including essentials such as working with computers and having the ability to multi-task in a fast paced working environment. General Purpose of the Phlebotomist

The Phlebotomist Serves patients by preparing specimens for laboratory testing; performing screening procedures.

Essential Duties of a Phlebotomist

• Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log; bringing discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel.
• Verifies patient by reading patient identification.
• Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and fingersticks.
• Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures; observing isolation procedures.
• Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintaining daily tallies of collections performed.
• Performs bleeding-times tests by entering results to the computer; notifying pathologist of results falling outside normal ranges.
• Maintains quality results by following department procedures and testing schedule; recording results in the quality-control log; identifying and reporting needed changes.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

Education:

A high school diploma or GED is required. Graduate from an accredited school of medical assistant. Six (6) months of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting preferred, however open to new graduate applicants.
