Job summary

St. Luke's Health - Patients Medical Center in Pasadena, TX is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood collection and specimen processing with emphasis on patient safety and timely turnaround.

The role requires following venipuncture protocols for all ages, maintaining clean work areas, and supporting Blood Bank collections. A High School diploma/GED is required; BLS-CPR within 90 days, and phlebotomy certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs blood collection using venipuncture and capillary techniques for inpatients and outpatients; ensures proper volume and sample quality.
• Maintains order and cleanliness of phlebotomy trays, stations and storage rooms.
• Performs Blood Bank collections following written procedures and banding requirements; demonstrates accuracy and penmanship.
• Assists with clerical duties as requested and supports timely turnaround of laboratory collections.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Phlebotomist you will performs blood collection and specimen processing. Assist with clerical duties as requested. Maintains laboratory collection turnaround time. Performs specimen processing.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities:

• Practices positive patient identification at all times, in all job functions.
• Practices HumanKindness and courtesy with all patient and co-worker interactions. Establishes and maintains good communication within the department and with other hospital departments.
• Compliance with isolation and hand sanitization procedures.
• Follows blood collection procedures, performs venous and capillary punctures on all age groups of inpatient and outpatient populations. Utilizes appropriate collection techniques to obtain quality samples and adheres to appropriate volume requirements.
• Performs Blood Bank collections. Follows written collection and Blood Bank banding procedures. Demonstrates accuracy and good penmanship. Adheres to specimen requirements.
• Maintains order and cleanliness of phlebotomy trays, stations and storage rooms.

Job Requirements

Required:

• High School diploma/GED
• BLS-CPR within 90 days

Preferred:

• Phlebotomy certificate
• 3 months phlebotomy in an acute care facility

St. Luke's Health - Patients Medical Center provides inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services to residents of Pasadena, Deer Park, La Porte, Baytown, and Clear Lake. The facility includes 53 medical/surgical beds, eight ICU beds and three endoscopy rooms, and offers a range of primary and specialized services-wound care, general surgery, gastroenterology, occupational health, heart and vascular, women’s services, diagnostic imaging, outpatient rehab services, and sleep disorders.
