Pay Range: $21.42 per hour

Job Title: Phlebotomist | Location: Barnabas Health Corp | Department: Lab RWJNB | Req#: 0000201517 | Status: Per Diem | Shift: Day

Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered will depend on factors including educational background, skills and professional experience.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include using proper collection techniques to minimize hemolysis and clotting, ensuring accurate patient identification, proper specimen labeling, correct collection procedures, and adherence to infection control standards. Follow standard precautions and participate in required in-services as needed to address infection rate variance.

• Patient Identification: verify patient identity using two identifiers (full name and Medical Record Number or Date of Birth); ensure labels match patient information; engage in active patient identification.
• Specimen Labeling: ensure samples are labeled with full name, MRN, date, time, and collector initials; label in the presence of the patient; follow up on mislabeling incidents.
• Specimen Collection: use appropriate collection devices, follow the Order of Draw, select required tubes, ensure specimen integrity, respond promptly to collection requests, perform capillary collection as needed, and provide correct containers with labels.
• Infection Control: perform handwashing, use gloves and sharps per procedure, follow Standard Precautions, and participate in in-services to address infection rate variance.
