Golden-Valley-Memorial-Healthcare-1 in Michigan is seeking a PRN Phlebotomy Technician to collect specimens and perform clerical duties in compliance with policies and accrediting standards.

Salary Range: $16.64 - $20.80 (noncertified) $17.31 - $21.64 (certified)
Performs non-blood and blood specimen collection, specimen handling/routine processing and clerical duties associated with specimen collection. Must maintain accurate and complete records. All duties will be performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards, and complies with criteria mandated by accrediting agencies. Must be able to instruct customers and personnel appropriately.
Performs phlebotomy (venipuncture, fingerstick, heelstick) according to established procedures for patient age (adult, pediatric, infant), Effectively communicate with nursing personnel as needed, correctly follows positive patient identification process. Also, checks patient armband and specimen labels before beginning procedure, prioritizes work and usesgood judgment to achieve maximum efficiency, knows various tubes, anticoagulants, special handling, and prep for specimens, or knows where to go for additional information, Understands needle gauges, finger/heel stick devices, and patient skin preps, Demonstrates a good understanding and use of Meditech clerical functions, Attempts to resolve all issues before the end of the shift, requires effective oral and written communication skills to communicate with customers with varying levels of comprehension, Ability to problem-solve when conversing with department customers. Requires a high level of accuracy and ability to understand instruction.
High School or Equivalent (GED) preferred
1-3 years’ experience preferred
Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) preferred
Current BLS certification or willingness to obtain at time of hire.
