Merrimack Health in Methuen is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipunctures, skin punctures, and specimen collection while supporting the Clinical Laboratory. You will help manage test requirements, prioritize orders, and ensure patient safety in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Position Summary: Phlebotomist

Job Description:

Performs venipunctures and skin punctures competently and expediently. Has thorough knowledge of test requirements, assists in the Clinical Laboratory as needed. Responsibilities include collection of blood cultures and blood samples; inventory control; office.

Essential Functions:

• Performs specimen collection.
• Completes duties in a time-efficient manner, knows how to prioritize STAT orders using the STAT priority protocol, urgent orders, scheduled orders and outpatients. Performs all office functions.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/ healthcare errors.
• Labels record time and initials on all test tubes, tests via LIS, and file paperwork as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• HS Graduate or equivalent
• Successful completion of phlebotomy training program with internship.
• 1 year experience preferred.
