Job summary

Spring Mountain Treatment Center in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a dynamic PRN phlebotomist to perform venipunctures and specimen collections in a 110-bed inpatient setting with a focus on acute crisis stabilization.

The ideal candidate will have a phlebotomy training program and certification on hire, plus strong communication and basic computer skills; prior lab or ER experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy training program required.
• Phlebotomy certification required on hire (substitutions allowed)
• Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Advanced EMT or Paramedic also accepted
• Previous lab/phlebotomy/ER tech experience preferred
• BLS Basic Life Support certification required
• Good communication skills, reading/writing/speaking
• Must be able to stand for long periods and perform venipuncture

Responsibilities

• Draw blood competently and with minimal patient discomfort.
• Label and record tubes at bedside; log procedures.
• Dispose of sharps in a rigid sharps container.
• Maintain venipuncture trays and work areas; notify leadership for ordering.
• Handle paperwork exposure to blood and body fluids.
• Process, centrifuge, and uncapping specimens.
• Dispose of blood/body fluids and spill clean-up materials.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Spring Mountain Treatment Center currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team as a PRN Phlebotomist. Phlebotomists perform venipunctures and other patient specimen collections and has thorough knowledge of testing collection requirements.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Consistently draws blood competently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
• Labels and records all test tubes at bedside, logs procedures, files paperwork.
• Dispose all sharps in a rigid sharps' container.
• Cleans and supplies venipuncture trays. Maintains work areas. Notifies Lab leadership for ordering.
• Handling paperwork that might be exposed to blood, body fluids or tissues.
• Processing, centrifuging, uncapping specimens.
• Disposal of blood, body fluid or tissue specimens and spill clean-up materials.
• Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required
• Acceptable phlebotomy training program
• Phlebotomy certification required upon hire (Laborary Assistant or Point of Care analyst license may be subsituted for certification)
• Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Advanced EMT and Licensed Paramedic also accepted
• Previous experience as a Lab Assistant, Phlebotomist, Emergency Room Technician, LPN or Paramedic preferred
• Obtain BLS Basic Life Support certification
• Good communication skills, i.e., reading, writing, and speaking
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
• Basic PC knowledge and medical terminology
• New hires are required to attend 1 full week of New Employee Orientation on day shift, normally 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday
• Must successfully pass background check (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check)
