Job summary

Research Medical Center is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory team for night shifts (10pm-6:30am) with rotating weekends in Kansas City, MO. The Phlebotomist will perform blood collections and related specimen processing under supervision, ensuring accurate labeling and data entry.

The role includes preparing samples for various departments and assisting with clerical duties. Phlebotomy course completion and clinical experience are valued; certs preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Phlebotomy Course required or equivalent
• Phlebotomy certification preferred
• Experience in a clinical laboratory setting is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen labeling and data entry

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and instruct on specimen collection methods
• Draw blood via finger stick, heel stick, or venipuncture and collect specimens
• Label specimens accurately and enter data into the computer
• Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis
• Assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Laboratory Phlebotomist performs collections of blood samples and specimens efficiently and appropriately following hospital and department standards and policies. Under the supervision of a Medical Technologist, the Phlebotomist may also performs routine technical functions, CLIA waived analyses and quality control. What you will do in this role:

• You will greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.


• You will draw blood specimens from patients by using finger stick s, heel sticks or venipuncture s and collect other specimens as required.


• You will label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.


• You will prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.


• You will assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.

What Qualifications Will You Need:

• Graduate of Phlebotomy Course required


• additional 6 months experience preferred.


• If phlebotomy program has not been completed, then must have one-year experience in a medical laboratory required or college course work in biological/chemical sciences.


• Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.


• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
