Job summary

The Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation is seeking a Phlebotomist to draw blood samples for diagnostic testing and to transport them to the appropriate laboratory. The role includes updating patient areas on test results and performing CLIA-waived routine tests in a clinical laboratory.

Strong communication and basic computer literacy are required. Training through an approved phlebotomy program is preferred to ensure accurate specimen collection and handling in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Gathers specimens, samples, or supplies and makes basic preparations in a clinical lab environment.
• Uses various venipuncture methods to collect patient blood samples and transports samples to the lab.
• Evaluates positive patient identification reducing pre-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcome.
• Tracks progress on samples and work orders and provides updates on results to patient areas.
• Cleans and performs routine maintenance on work areas and equipment and documents equipment performance accurately.
