Job summary

Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center is hiring a Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory team. You will collect samples, register tests in LIS, and relay test results to staff and physicians as part of reliable patient care.

The role requires phlebotomy certification, 1 year of experience or training, good communication, and attention to detail. BLS certification and a valid driver’s license are also expected.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy Certification required.
• One year of phlebotomy experience or equivalent training.
• Excellent communication/people skills and problem solving skills.
• Computer skills and filing/clerical skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (BLS/BCLS).
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples and body fluids from patients for laboratory testing including blood cultures and arterial samples for blood gas analysis.
• Register specimens and order tests in LIS and prepare/label samples for internal or external testing.
• Communicate lab test requests and results to appropriate staff, departments, and physicians.
• Collect and document urine drug screens requiring chain of custody and breath alcohol when required.
• Assist with in-services or training as assigned.
• Assist with administrative duties within the laboratory.
