Job description
Phlebotomist

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team, exhibiting proficiency in blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety protocols, along with the ability to effectively communicate their importance to other employees. The successful candidate will also possess the necessary skills to provide orientation and training for patient service technicians. You will primarily work with pediatric patients under the supervision of the lab supervisor and team lead. The work schedule requires availability between 6am to 11pm every day of the week.

Responsibilities
  • Perform blood collection using venipuncture and capillary techniques.
  • Work with pediatric patients, ensuring comfort and safety during procedures.
  • Conduct difficult blood draws in medical office buildings.
  • Communicate and enforce compliance and safety standards.
  • Provide orientation and training to patient service technicians.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy and venipuncture.
  • Experience with neonatal and pediatric blood draws.
  • At least six months to one year of experience in acute or sub‑acute settings.
  • Ability to draw 45‑55 patients within an 8‑hour shift in outpatient settings.
  • Ability to draw 20‑30 patients within an 8‑hour shift in inpatient settings.
  • Excellent attendance and behavior record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • CPT 1 License.
  • Experience with a lab system, such as Cerner.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Experience in hospital settings is a plus.
  • Able to travel to various Medical Office Building labs throughout South OC.
Work Environment

This is a high‑volume role primarily working in Medical Office Buildings (clinics). Once permanent, you will work in the main lab in a hospital setting. The work locations include various draw stations in locations such as Aliso Viejo, Irvine, Foothill Ranch, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, and others. Flexibility in shifts and hours is required, and the ability to travel to different locations is essential.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
