Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Phlebotomist in High Point, NC to assist with specimen collection, processing, and maintaining sample integrity. The role requires accurate blood draws, patient communication, and adherence to safety protocols in a fast-paced lab setting.

You will perform venipuncture, label and process specimens, and ensure proper storage while following CPT and medical procedures. This onsite position offers a contract-to-hire path and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certification may be required by state.
• 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy and specimen handling experience in a lab or hospital.

Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

The phlebotomist will assist in performing various duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The role includes specimen collection, processing, and ensuring the integrity of samples.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.

• Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.

• Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.

• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

• Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly to patients.

• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.

• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.

• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.

• Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.

• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.

• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.

Essential Skills

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of High Point, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
