Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking an Inpatient Phlebotomist for the 2nd shift, full-time. You will perform specimen collection and registration across hospital and off-site locations, with regular floating to health parks and mobile draws.

The role requires phlebotomy experience, Michigan license, and the ability to type 40 wpm. Some shifts start as early as 4 am, with weekend and holiday requirements and full training initially.

Qualifications

• High school diploma. Valid Michigan driver's license.
• ASCP certification for Phlebotomy (must obtain certification within one year of hire) preferred.
• Six months Phlebotomy experience STRONGLY desired, including experience from school.
• Must be able to type 40 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Main Hospital Inpatient Phlebotomist: sample processing and registration for inpatients.
• Outpatient Health Park Phlebotomist: may be located at any outpatient draw stations and float when needed.
• Mobile Phlebotomist: travels daily between nursing homes, corporate entities and residential facilities.
• Approximately 50% specimen collection and 50% data entry/registration work.

Phlebotomist/Registration: Working in a single assigned work area, provides specimen collection, registration and processing services to patients in the main hospital, outpatient lab draw stations, and mental health and skilled nursing facilities at off-site locations and clinics. High volume work, 50% of duties involve computer utilization with targets to meet. Provides clerical support to the Pathology Department and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma.Valid Michigan driver's license.

• Six months Phlebotomy experience STRONGLY desired,including experience from school.
• Must be able to type 40 words per minute.

Must be able to work as early as 4 am for first shift. First month or so will be full time training on the shift you are hired for. Every third weekend is required to work and 2-3 holidays a year required. Driver's license and reliable transportation required forcommuting to different locations as needed. About 50% specimen collection and 50% data entry and registration/computer related work.

Main Hospital Inpatient Phlebotomist

At the main hospital servicing inpatients, processing and registration of samples received from physician offices for testing.

Outpatient Health Park Phlebotomist

May be located at any outpatient draw stations around Grand Rapids; required to float to any health park when needed.

Mobile Phlebotomist

Travels daily between multiple nursing homes, corporate entities and residential facilities.
