Job summary

Holy Cross Health Florida in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a Full Time Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and specimen collection with high proficiency, ensuring proper labeling and patient safety.

The role requires adherence to protocols, ability to train new Associates and students, and the capability to collect from infants to adults in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of approved Phlebotomy program or 1 year phlebotomy experience in an acute care hospital.
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Proficient in venipuncture for patients of all ages (infants to adults).
• Ensure specimen integrity and proper labeling per protocol.
• Follow patient identification procedures and labeling protocols.
• Lead orientation and training for new associates and students.
• Perform collections timely and competently with various equipment.

• Is proficient at 98% of venipunctue attempts. Assures that specimen collected is appropriate to test required (collect tube, amount of blood)
• Follows protocol for patient identification and specimen labeling at all times.
• Understands consequence of deviation from protocol.
• Takes a leadership role in orientation and training of new Associates and students.
• Demonstrates consistent ability to perform venipunctures on infants and children as well as adults.
• Performs all collections in timely manner.
• Demonstrates knowledge of proper utilization of various types of equipment , ie syringe, butterflies, lancets, vacutainers, blood culture equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• To be a graduate of an approved Phlebotomy program and/or have a minimum of one year of phlebotomy experience in an acute care hospital
• To have excellent customer service skills.
• To have excellent organizational skills
