Job summary

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is seeking a Phlebotomist in The Villages, FL to work with blood donors and deliver a positive donation experience. You will perform phlebotomy, screenings, donor registration, and documentation while following SOPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet LifeSouth’s driver eligibility requirements.
• Flexibility to work varied schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Team-oriented mindset and willingness to support coworkers in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accuracy while performing multiple responsibilities.
• Ability to read, understand and follow written procedures and instructions.
• CDL holders are preferred, with additional compensation available.

Responsibilities

• Provide a welcoming, positive experience for blood donors.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect blood from donors per LifeSouth procedures and safety standards.
• Conduct donor screenings, including interviews and physical assessments, to determine eligibility.
• Register donors and accurately document information throughout the donation process.
• Learn to operate automated blood collection equipment and perform apheresis procedures once trained.
• Ensure donors are accurately identified at every step of the donation process.
• Educate donors about donation options and opportunities for automated donations when appropriate.
• Support donor recruitment and retention by encouraging future donations and assisting with rescheduling.
• Work with your team to create a safe, efficient and positive donation experience.

What You'll Do

LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving more than 150 hospitals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. We are committed to meeting the blood supply needs of hospitals and their patients by providing the highest quality blood components and services. With more than 45 donor centers, 55 bloodmobiles and 2,000 blood drives a month, our LifeSouth team is dedicated to making sure the blood is there when you or your family is in need.

Our Mission

To provide a safe blood supply that meets or exceeds the needs in each community we serve, and to provide a variety of services in support of ongoing and emerging blood and transfusion related activities.
