Job summary

Beacon Health System is seeking a PRN phlebotomy technician to support blood collection and processing in a hospital lab setting. Responsibilities include setting up instruments, handling specimens, and maintaining sterile workflow during tests and transports.

The role requires performing clerical tasks, assisting with test orders, data entry, and EKG review, with a Monday-Friday 10:00–18:00 schedule and rotating weekend shifts as needed. Prior phlebotomy experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of cumulative job-specific experience preferred.
• BLS provider licensure preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred but not required.

• Receives, centrifuges, accessions, processes and transports specimens; may draw blood.
• Orders add-on tests, manages pending lists, and resolves duplicate orders.

PRN. As needed. Monday-Friday, 1000-1800 w/ rotating weekend schedule. Collects and processes blood specimens for testing and performs multiple clerical and processing functions.

Responsibilities

• Sets up instruments. Maintains, cleans, and sterilizes equipment and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control procedures.
• Receives, centrifuges, accessions, processes and transports specimens. Verifies all related records. May draw and collect blood samples according to policy.
• Orders add-on tests, works pending lists, and resolves duplicate orders.
• Performs clerical duties which may include answering phones, reviewing EKGs, collecting patient demographic data for patient registration, ordering tests, reviewing Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage (ABN), data entry and filing.
