Job description

The Phlebotomist will be responsible for drawing blood from patients, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring accurate and timely collection of samples. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and excellent patient communication skills. Prior experience as a Phlebotomist is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and welcome patients
  • Verify patients’ medical histories
  • Preparing patients before drawing blood
  • Explaining blood draw procedures to patients and answering any questions about the process
  • Following all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas
  • Identifying the best needle sized and location for each blood draw
  • Ensuring the correct use of collection tubes and containers for the requested lab work
  • Proficient in blood sampling techniques and procedures
  • Gathering medicaltesting materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bagsand test tubes
  • Verifying patient information and labeling blood samples properly
  • Accurately updating patient information in the organization’s database
  • Helping nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draws
  • Working with supervising Physicians and always following their directions
  • Analyzing blood specimens using the correct testing equipment, when necessary
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment used in the drawing and testing of blood specimens
  • Restocking the lab and ordering supplies
  • Perform routine in office test including but not limited to Glucose testing, Strep and Flu test, Urinalysis, EKG, TB Skin test, Remote patient monitoring setup, ect.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in a medical facility
  • Phlebotomist certification preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and medical laws and ethics
  • Excellent dexterity and able to remain focused at all times
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Full time (36-40 hour week)
  • $18-$21/hour
