Job summary

Labcorp in Detroit, MI is seeking a Phlebotomist for a part-time role working 2-3 rotating days per week and every other weekend from 4:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen collection, data entry, and patient service.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, some phlebotomy experience, and may have certification or training. Travel to other sites may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 months or more experience as a phlebotomist.
• Phlebotomy certification or completed training preferred.
• 6+ months experience as a phlebotomist.
• 6+ months phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
• Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests etc.
• Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.
• Process billing information and collect payments when required.
• Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis.
• Maintain patient and specimen information logs.
• Provide superior customer service to all patients.
• Administrative and clerical duties as necessary.
• Travel to additional sites when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3 months or more experience as a phlebotomist

Preferred Qualifications:

• Phlebotomy certification or completed training program
• 6 months or more experience as a phlebotomist
• 6 months or more experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital setting

Additional Job Standards:

• Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment
• Comfortable working under minimal supervision
• Reliable transportation and clean driving record if applicable
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
