While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to corrosive chemicals, infectious agents, handling glassware, needles and handling unpleasant specimens such as stool and urine. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. Tasks that are routinely performed may involve possible contact with blood and other body fluid and cleaning up of contaminated areas, handling waste, specimen accessioning, specimen collection, specimen handling/transport, specimen shipping, venipuncture, skin puncture, and making blood smears.
