Hiring

Position: Phlebotomist

Shift: Day 8 hours

Facility: Sutter Health

Location: Berkeley, CA

Pay range: $24/hr for Local and $30/hr on Traveller

Requirements:

Need lab assistant to help with processing specimens, answering phone calls, and sending specimens out. Also, this person will help with neonatal draws.

Certification requirements:
  • CALIFORNIA STATE CPTI-Certified Phlebotomy Technician I
  • BLS
Job Accountabilities:
  • Receives and prepares for testing various types of body fluids and/or tissue, following established procedures to ensure specimen integrity and positive identification.
  • Logs and accessions specimen and test information (manual or computerized).
  • Picks up or delivers specimens/supplies (blood units, pathology specimens).
  • Assists with clerical duties, such as verification of blood and reference laboratory invoices.
  • Answers telephone inquiries regarding specimen procedures and test requirements.
  • Stores, directs, and disposes of patient specimens according to procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area with adequate supplies.
  • Prints reports/logs, evaluates, and follows up on discrepancies to ensure all specimens are accounted for and processed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients, assessing their data and needs based on age-specific requirements.
  • Provides compassionate care, respecting patient dignity, and applies principles of continuous quality improvement.
